Mark your calendars! The most important fall event is coming up and you do not want to miss it! The CCCC’s Family Night Potluck Supper will be on Friday, November 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A sign up sheet will be posted in the entrance for you to indicate a favorite dish that you would like to bring as well as the number from your family who will be able to attend. Because of limited space, we ask that only immediate family members attend the dinner portion of the evening. Thank you!
We ask that each family sit in the space designated by your child’s class. If there is more than one class represented in your family, sit with the older child’s class. The dinner will be held in the Fellowship Hall (up on the 3rd floor). For the safety and comfort of everyone we request that you please keep your children seated with you at the table. Please do not allow them to run around. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
More information will follow as the even draws near.
FIRE STATION TRIP
It is time to proudly wear our green Cranford Child Care Center tee shirts as we head for the Cranford Fire Station for our first field trip. A permission form will be posted on your child’s classroom door for you to sign. Please check your class calendar for the dates. The children are given a tour of the facility, learn about fire safety, get to sit behind the wheel of the fire truck and sometimes even squirt the hose! It is a great experience.

Chapel Corner
This month in chapel we’ve talked about how God created the Earth and all that is in it. We especially let our little ones know that God looked at all He had created and declared it good. We also looked at how He rested on the 7th day. (something we all need to remember—it is God’s desire for us to rest!!!)
We looked at the story of Adam and Eve and talked about the word ‘disobey’ and why it made God sad that they listened to the snake and not to Him.
From there we floated on over to Noah’s ark and talked about how God NEVER(ever) breaks His promises.
Our last story this month was the Tower of Babel. We talked about why this tower displeased God and what happened as a result.
A big thank you to Mr. Stanley Bielinski for coming in to play praise songs for our little ones (and our big ones J ) We thank God for you!
CLASS NOTES:
The Lively Leaping Frog Class
2 ½ -3’s:
October is here and the weather will be turning a little cooler. Soon the leaves will be changing colors. As we take our nature walks, we will be able to see the beautiful colors of red, orange, yellow and brown leaves. The children will be doing a lot with the leaves such as sorting by color and size, leaf rubbings and learning the types of trees each leaf comes from. We also will be learning how Christopher Columbus discovered America.
We will all be excited about our Halloween-Fall Festival. We also look forward to having Mr. Dreyer from Dreyer’s Farm come to visit us. He will be donating pumpkins for us to decorate and explore. This will definitely be keeping our senses alert with the smell of pumpkin, feeling the inside of the pumpkin, looking at pumpkin seeds and counting them, and tasting pumpkin.
October is also Fire Prevention Month, so we will be learning about fire safety through role-playing, songs and books. We also will be getting a visit from the Fire Department. This month the rainbow class will be busy with all the Fall excitement

Begindergarten
October News Letter
Welcome October and what an exciting time it is to begin our alphabet adventure. A is for Apples. The Psalmist asks the Lord to keep him as the Apple of God’s eye. Ever wonder why? Well…this month the Begindergarten class went on an apple expedition…and when we cut open the apple we discovered a special treasure hiding inside. It was a beautiful star. Oh how special for us to be the Apple of God’s eye… a light that shines as bright as a star…that others might see and give glory to God! While it was easy for us to count the number of seeds we found inside the apple…not one of us was able to determine the number of apples that each seed represented. Only God knows the potential of each apple seed…and like that tiny seed each one of us is full of amazing potential too! It is our prayer that this month we might all ask for God to keep us as the apple of His eye. Johnny Appleseed was thankful for the sun, and the rain and the apple seed. What are you thankful for?

The Busy Bee Class: Pre-K
September was spectacular. It was a great start to a great school year. Now we look forward to October and all of its fall fun!
Our first week of October will be spent learning about Fall and all of the changes that occur during this season. When we go on our nature walks we will observe the weather getting cooler, the leaves changing color, and maybe even some squirrels gathering some acorns. Fall we also be explored through our stories and art projects too!
Fire Safety will be brought to life the next week when we visit the fire station on Friday, October 10th. We will learn about the fire fighters job and learn more about being safe. Our trip wouldn’t be complete without stopping by the fire trucks! It is sure to be a lot of fun!
The next week of school will be the start of our alphabet adventure! We will learn the sound of the letter, learn the letter in sign language, and make a list of words that start with the letter of the week. Sure to be on the top of the letter “A” list are Apples and Acorns. It is going to be an amazing week!
The letter “B” is for Bears. Pre-K will discover the different types of bears and what bears do in the fall to get ready for their winter hibernation. Look on our calendar for our Teddy Bear Day too!
Our class will finish October with “C” week and an exploration of Corn and Crows. We will use an ear of corn to measure items around our room, paint marvelous artwork, and use them in our science table. The Pre-K might have to make some scarecrows to keep those silly crows away!
We look forward to another wonderful month!

Kindergarten Class- “The Shining Stars”
Kindergarten is a very busy place to be J This month we’ve been busy looking at rhyming words, learning about author and illustrator, all about ourselves and our friends and even looked at the people who make up our families. We’ve read the Mrs. Wishy Washy series this month along with many other books and began writing in our journals. We’ve practiced writing our names, the date, rhyming words, color words and much more.
In math we focused mainly on patterning (we got as far as 5 shapes in a repeating pattern) however we also looked at numbers from 11- 20 , began counting in sets of 10, and measured each other using unifix cubes.
In addition to the above we’ve also made playdough and apple pie (both of which we talked about measurement in cooking)
In October we will begin the letter of the week, homework and teach n tells. We will also be taking a trip to the fire station, taking class pictures and having a fall festival at the end of the month.
Kindergarten newsletters will continue to go out on a weekly basis.
Have a great month!!
Mrs. Anne, Miss Angela, and Miss Tania
Out of the Mouths of Babes…
Pre K was going on a leaf hunt. Mrs. Barbara says- “It looks like it might rain, but that is not what the weather man said!” Olivia answers “ It’s not the weather mans job—It’s God’s job!”
After Pre K did a great job listening and helping Mrs. Alyssa at chapel, they came down and were so,so loud. When Mrs. Alyssa asked what happened Jack answered “We used all of our quiet upstairs!”
Have a Blessed October J
